○ Korea-related materials in Turkiye
The National Library of Korea digitally collects and provides materials related with Korea in Turkiye. The subject institutions for collection are the Ottoman Archives under the Prime Minister's Office of the Republic of Turkiye and the collection of rare documents of the Istanbul University.
From the Ottoman Archives, the NLK selectively collected and translated 32 important documents related to Korea's modern and contemporary history among the documents held by the Office of the Official Documents. As the original text is a manuscript handwritten in Ottoman language, the NLK collaborated with a team of modern and contemporary Ottoman history professors of the National Istanbul University Department of History to transcribe into Turkish Latin alphabet and translate into modern Turkish, English and Korean. Therefore, Turkiye materials can also be used in translations.
From the collection of rare documents of Istanbul University, a book on travels In Joseon have been collected. It is an excerpt from the Joseon edition of an Asian travelogue written from 1910 to 1913 that shows the social situation of the late period of Joseon in the eyes of Muslims from a third country and is considered to have provided the opportunity to have the situation in Korea widely recognized throughout the Islamic world for the first time.
