Korean History in the Eyes of the Dokdo
Dokdo has been known by several names including Sambongdo, Gajido, Usando, Jasando and Seokdo. Such geographic names reveal how their respective regions and geographical features were perceived by people at the time, and they are a form of culture created by people. As such, we can better understand the past landscapes, ecological environment and perceptions of Dokdo based on the changes in its geographic name.
