The National Library of Korea (NLK) celebrated the '2nd Library Day' on April 12th (Friday) with a variety of events held at the main library and branch libraries (National Library for Children and Young Adults (NLCYA), National Library of Korea Sejong). These events included a library promotion booth, a noon concert, author lectures, and more. On April 11th (Thursday) and 12th (Friday), the outdoor plaza of the NLK main building was transformed into a space where visitors could get closer to both the NLK and the NLCYA.
At the NLK’s copyright and legal deposit promotion booth, visitors could explore the 60-year history of ‘legal deposit,’ which is the foundation for the collection and preservation of Korea’s cultural heritage, as well as view a video and photos showcasing the 20-year history of the OASIS web archive project. Additionally, visitors could enjoy the ‘Life in Four Shots at the Library’, along with the romantic works of modern authors.
The NLCYA set up a 'Read Me a Book' experience booth to help children enjoy reading and develop proper reading habits. Author Min Ha, who wrote the picture book Tightrope Walking, and Ji Kyung-ae, author of We All Work for the People We Love, along with singer Harim, were invited for a reading performance and post-reading activities. The library also offered a variety of reading culture programs, including activities like making mobile umbrellas (for younger children), creating 3D flower pots (for older children), and crafting pin buttons.
