Personally, the past is very important because it is always in the present through the continuous memory and reflection. And in the view of society, the arrangement of the reality of the past can be operated as one of the facts which amend the present. So the writers are interested in revealing the relation between the structure of the society of the past and the human acts based on that structure. This method is more valuable when the historical contemplation is the unique way to reach to the origin of present problems. The most important aspect, in this time, is the historical consciousness of the writers because, for the writers, it is required to make efforts to recreate the reality of the past with priority given to the modern evaluation. In the Latin-American literary world, the Colombian dramatist, Enrique Buenaventura is estimated as one of the famous writers which reinvented successfully the reality of the past to reveal the origin of complex problems of the present. He established the “Teatro Experimental de Cali” and pursued the dramas which accuse the social reality of Colombia. He thinks that it is necessary to understand the harms done to the human development and analyze the influence and the consequence of imperialism and consumer economy. So he likes to write ideological, historical and documentary works. His representative work, Los Soldados, is one of them. This work treats the historical reality that is very famous in the history of Colombia, “the Masacre in Banana Zone.” This historical event occurred in 1928 in the Province Santa Marta, Colombia. This work contains the process of strike of the workers and the armed suppression of the military. Enrique Buenaventura, in this work, tries to reveal the occult history and restitute the historical reality in the present to represent the origin of violence spread in Colombian society. This effort is to complete the present life of the masses. This article attempts to examine the process of objective reality of the past and show the critical vision represented in Los soldados.
