The biased continued-fraction expansion method yields a set of reduced models retaining the first few time-moments and/or Markov parameters of an original model. It is shown that the method can be improved if the highest-order time-moment or Markov parameter to be retained in the reduced model is replaced by the impulse energy of the original model.
